The lobby at the Butte County Administration Building reopened to the public on June 1, 2020. Due to a high volume of customers, phone calls and mail, we will be available by phone from 9am – 4pm, Monday through Friday. If you do not reach us, PLEASE leave your name, phone number and a short message and we will return your call as soon as

possible.

A permanent after hours drop box has been installed by the front door and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You may use this drop box for real estate tax payments and also to drop off title paperwork and payment. Please do not place cash in the drop box.

Important Tax Information:

 

- Real estate taxes are paid one year in arrears. (Example:  In the year 2019, property owners will be paying 2018 real estate taxes.) 

 

- Real estate tax notices are mailed to the property owners in January.

 

- The first half of your real estate taxes are due by close of business on April 30th or the last business day of April. Postmark is accepted. 

 

- The second half of your real estate taxes are due by close of business on October 30th. Postmark is accepted.

 

- Any taxes that are paid late will be returned to the remitter with the proper amount of interest and/or penalties due (interest accrues monthly).

 

- Delinquent notices are mailed in November.

 

- Delinquent properties are published in the Butte County Post the week prior to the December tax certificate sale.

- The Treasurer is required by law to conduct a tax certificate sale the third Monday in December each year.  A tax certificate will be issued and sold on any property having delinquent taxes.

- For information regarding the Senior Citizens or Disabled Person tax freeze, or further information regarding your real estate or mobile home taxes you may call our office at 605-892-4456.

2019 payable 2020 property taxes are now DELINQUENT.

Please contact the Butte County Treasurer’s Office at 605-892-4456 for the total amount due, with penalty and interest.

If payment is not received by November 30, 2020, all delinquent taxes will be published in the BH Pioneer.
